| I <3 The Pre-Raphaelites |
[Feb. 3rd, 2008|02:55 pm] |
I've been on a very serious Pre-Raphaelite kick lately. Well, that makes it sound like it's something new, and I've been obsessed with the Pre-Raphaelites since I was....14?? But lately it's especially a hobby. I've discovered how many fascinating books I can Inter-library loan on the subject at the library (Jen, I ILLed the Jewelry book, and it was SO great!!!), and have found out all kinds of interesting things about the Brotherhood and their VERY significant influence on so many aspects of life and revolution. I'm even considering starting a Blogger blog for Pre-Raphaelites and their influence on today...kinda like the Pre-Raphaelite Sisterhood site, or Earthly Paradise two sites that are daily checks for me now.
Anyway, I wanted to do a picture that was inspired by a Rossetti, so I had Tom take a few portraits of me today and I love how they turned out! They are roughly inspired by (not meant to be a direct duplicate) Rossetti's Bocca Baciata, pictured under the cut.

HOORAY FOR PARRISH RELICS!!!! :D

A delicate yet rich painting made flesh..
you are a prefect model!
Thank you! It was really fun to try to approximate the makeup, hairdo, etc. This could get addicting...I want to try my hand at some Waterhouse images next :)
That's really lovely :-) I wonder if someone more skilled with photoshop than I could manipulate the photo to make it look more like a painting, with brushstrokes etc.?
I'm so glad you like Earthly Paradise! I saw that you'd visited and stopped by to check out your site. I love the picture by the way--very Rossetti-ish--and you have such nice hair! Be sure to let me know if you start a Pre-Raphaelite blog!

Thanks for stopping by! I do definitely want to start a blog, and I even have a Word document with topic ideas ;) Now it's just a matter of figuring out the bells and whistles over at Blogger or Blogspot.
Thank you!! The PRB called the women they thought were good models "Stunners"...heehee.
Thanks! Coming from someone with some STUNNING photos herself, that's an honor :)
so beautiful!
would love to add it to the customer gallery ! if you are so inclined, that is :)
I got your image clips this weekend! thank you...email soon.
Hell yes!
I mean (cough) I would be most honored. (curtsy)
:)
Glad to hear the clips arrived.
That portrait came out so lovely. Rossetti has always been one of my favorite Pre-Raphaelite artists too. I think I have the same curtains as you in my livingroom and they do make a most splendid backdrop. :-)

It was quite kind of you to mention my site, Pre-Raphaelite Sisterhood. Thank you!
Your photograph turned out beautifully, quite stunning -- you have perfect hair and skin for the Pre-Raphaelites!! You'd make a wonderful Ophelia.
~ Stephanie Pina
Thank you for the compliment, Stephanie! I was thrilled to receive an invite to the PRS page on MySpace a few weeks ago...didn't know about the website before that. I just noticed the link to the site was faulty, above...I've fixed it now. Re: Ophelia...once my wedding dress is made, I hope to work on a reproduction of Waterhouse's blue Ophelia gown. Out of all of the Pre-Raphaelite inspired Ophelias (and are there ever many!) it's by far my favorite. I feel like he gets the look of dreamy-eyed madness in her eyes just right, and the gazes of the bewildered people on the bridge are wonderful. But at the same time, there's something fully sympathetic about her. Not to mention the dress is gorgeous ;)
Wow. That's really pretty. I like the way it came out
Thank you! :) It was fun setting up the "scenery" :)
Thank you! I'd love to see you do a set of pictures like this sometime too!
Your looks are more suited to a Waterhouse painting.
Which is cool cause he is my favorite. :)
Yours!
You have a Lady Of Shallot look about you. The Waterhouse version.
I now officially love you.
