A picture Ed took of me at the Viking Festival last Sunday that I like.

Very striking. I like the pensiveness of your look.
I was thinking "must not smile...Valkyries don't smile!"
;)
Nice re-use of the corset :D
Thanks! I hate to waste costume pieces ;)
Oooh...*petpetpetp* purdy ;D
I was petting my mantle all day.
Whoa...that sounds bad. ;)
Fabulous! your hair looks longer-love the curls. and that bodice is fantastic! i am glad you wore it.
Thank you! The bodice was great, but the neckpiece was KILLER after about 2 hours. I took it off, and I had an angry red welt across my neck. Gotta break that puppy in!
Wonderful! Like a saga come to life!
(air kiss) You know just what to say, my lovely :D
One word....AWESOME!
I love the way your hair looks. Is that natural curl or artifical?
Natural. That's what my hair looks like in the morning when I wash it at night and let it dry while I sleep :)
Thanks!
Good shot, indeed. I like that whisper of a smile sneaking out from behind the straight face -- like, "Oh yeah, you think you know that I'm serious, but come here and you'll find out just how seriously to take me." Heehee. I don't envy you wearing that matching gorget piece, but the whole getup looks great, and great on you.
And I admit, I'd be one of those people who, if there, would've been hard-pressed to stop myself from reaching out and petting youR MANTLE, constantly.
Jamie's even more tactile-fixated than I am, what with his sensory neuro-issues, and he's kind of got a hair fetish. Mommy having butt-length hair at its shortest, daddy previously (until he had to hack it off because of job needs...grrr) having mid-back-length hair....yeah, the kid has a thing for hair. And anything remotely like hair, in being silky/dangly-stranded/plush...which of course means he adores anything with furr. Back at BristolRenFest, a lot of people started wearing those fox tails and such, and it was a riot trying to keep him from randomly launching himself at some stranger's rear, wanting to grab and feel their tail.
The group that puts on the Viking Festival is called the Lost Viking Hoard, and the guy and his wife who lead the group, and the festival, have a business selling Viking-esque reenactment stuff. They have a longstanding booth at Ohio Ren Faire every year, and they sell tons and tons of absolutely gorgeous fur (those on my f-list who are anti-fur, stop reading now)
I always LOVE their booth, and I end up being tempted by many of their wares. I had bought a gorgeous big reindeer fur before...it's so lightweight and soft, but sadly, reindeer fur is hollow, which means that the strands break easily, which means it SHED ALL OVER. I ended up selling it back to them...they're good people.
Anyway, my favorite item they have is their bunny. The "cloak" above is two of their rabbit pelt thingies pinned together...I have a third one at home. Each rabbit pelt thingie is made up of probably about 20 rabbit pelts that have been sewn together cleanly so that you can hardly tell from the top that it's not a single fur at all. I have three of them now because it's enough that I could eventually sew them all together for real and make a reversible cloak out of them. :) But yeah...they're VERY strokeable.
Incidentally, I've been to Bristol...once, years ago. I was amused by how different the mud was in the mud show from Ohio mud. And how many mosquitoes there were by the pond/lake thing.
WOW, you are seriously BADASS in that costume. (said with thoroughly impressed approval) By Freya's necklace! How sexy you are!
(shy giggle) (smooches your face)
Also, I just realized you resemble the actress Isla Fisher, whom I think is adorable.
Yay! (points to icon, which is an icon of her a friend made me about 9 years ago...I've liked her for a looooong time) | |
